The Process

It’s so much more
than telling a story

Discover your

narration type

Your story matters, and the way you want it told matters too.

While I pride myself on being able to carry a story with multiple distinguishable character voices, from a dainty southern belle to an angry troll - not every story is suited to one narrator.

If you are wondering what are the differences in the different narration types, here is a comprehensible breakdown of each to help you.

  • Solo Narration is when one narrator voices every part of your story. From the gruff, masculine warrior, to the lady in the tower, and every goblin or creature in between.

Don’t worry about having too many characters, because discovering their voices is half the fun.

  • Dual Narration is like listening to two people tell you their versions of the same story. This works well with books written in Dual POV. Each narrator would voice everything inside of their characters POV Chapters.

  • Duet Narration is rising in demand for many Romantic stories. Typically, this narration would have the F Narrator voice all F characters, and the M narrator voice all M characters.

The Main Narration would either belong to 1 Narrator, or split if written in DUAL POV.

  • This Narration type has many narrators working together to bring a story to life. Each narrator would be assigned their character(s) giving your audio book a real movie-feel in audio.

What is my process?

What does getting an audio book made look like, and what can you expect?

Before we start recording -

  • The first step is always to have a conversation!

Email me and let’s talk about your book. Your story, your vision, and see if we are a good fit! And if for some reason we aren’t, that’s okay! I’ll do my best to recommend someone who is.

  • Scheduling is important. Narration takes quite a while, and we are often booked 3-6 months in advance. But don’t let that scare you! Timelines shift based on project types and other scheduling factors. The important thing is to get on the books, and if the opportunity comes to start sooner, we will reach out! So please, book early if you are able.

  • When we are closer to the beginning of your project, I will request a Kick off Meeting to go over any questions you have about contracts, payment options, my process, and get any information you’re willing to give me about your story. This is a time to mutually ask all of our questions to have a successful and smooth production.

  • You will receive a Welcome Packet email from me! This Packet includes all of the information that we (hopefully) went over in the Kick Off Meeting for you to reference should the need arise.

During Audio Production -

  • My first step is always to read your book! I may ask for this a few weeks before I start recording, to read and become familiar with your writing style, characters, and story arcs.

Note: Duet & Multicast Narration will require a highlighted manuscript

  • When I begin recording, I will submit a 15 minute sample reading for you approval. This lets you hear what the final product will sound like!

You may pick a specific scenes for this. If there is no preference it will be the first 15 minutes of the book.

You may ask for adjustments at this point. When it is approved, we go to the next phase - recording!

  • Full steam ahead! We record, and record, and record some more. I may record on social media LIVE with permission.

  • This is when we get rid of all the mouth clicks and unseemly noises, check pacing and make everything sound polished.

Whether this step is done by me or someone else, it means we are closer to the end of production! Yay!

  • Now, we have an audiobook! You will have an opportunity to listen to the audiobook in full for your review, and request revisions to make sure everything is correct.

  • Finally, we have a finished product! Your files will be delivered, and whatever distribution process you chose - you can finally submit the audiobook for sale.
